I'm sure we can all agree that no relationship is perfect (apart from Kaiden and Alex's - of course), but the split in the 'core four' (Alex, Bear, D.C. This is stereotypical and unlike Alex, and also links to the next point. She becomes more weak, and overly dependant on comfort from Kaiden. Alex cries and breaks down a multitude of times throughout the book, and many seem to be over petty, simple things, that she would have pushed through in the other books. She is headstrong, and difficult to get through to, yet in Vardaesia this image of Alex is flipped on its head. Throughout the rest of the series Alexandra Jennings is portrayed as a strong, brave and independent female protagonist. They also should have had their first kiss in a less planned and peaceful location, being more hasty and impulsive, in order to convey the couples feelings in a more strong and reckless manner.Ģ) Second of all Alex's independence, and personal strength. It feels lacking compared to the time it took for them to become a couple. This is as long as Noni deems to drag out their new relationship. But once the obligatory ribbing that Alex and Kaiden received from the others was over with, it was business as usual for them' (chapter 18, page 186). who eyed Alex shrewdly and raised her brows in question, to which Alex responded with a quick, smiling nod - and then everyone knew, because D.C.'s squeal could have woken the entire city.

But wasn't this just a little too predictable and perfect to convey the full effect? The excitement about their first kiss should have been dragged out, but it felt defused instead, especially in the quick acceptance of Alex and Kaiden's new relationship status by the rest of their friends '. When it finally happens, it seems to be everything we dreamt it would be romantic, surrounded by glitter and stars. Throughout the entirety of the series, its as though everyone is sitting on the edge of their seats, with the anticipation and hope of Alex and Kaiden FINALLY becoming a couple. There are 5 main issues found in Vardaesia specifically (ignoring any other issues, that only remain minor throughout the rest of the series, when compared to Vardaesia): Vardaesia turned many of the characters around and made everything too predictable, perfect and happy (in the end). Was the final book in the Medoran Chronicles worth all the hype, did it meet the expectations of fans, and did it reach its full potential in how great it could have been? There is one, simple answer: No. The Medoran Chronicles is a series worthy of praise, and a personal favourite of mine, but I find Lynette Noni seems to lose the plot when it comes to ending the plot.
